The project began with a 13,000 SF emergency room hybrid children’s center addition and emergency room expansion. This project was Phase 1 of the master plan and immediately upgraded to an HVAC overhaul of the future system for pandemic preparedness. During this phase the existing ED HVAC system was simultaneously upgraded to 100% outside air.
Following completion of this work, a 9-phase Labor and Delivery renovation began with 9 LDR rooms and two 2 new C-Section OR’s with triage and support spaces. Concurrently, during Phase 2 of LDR, a 13- room post-partum floor was started and completed tying into the Phase 2 work. This phase required infrastructure upgrades from the 6th floor through the roof level and supported these phases plus future phases.
The last of the master plan projects is the East Building 55,000 SF demolition and fit out combined with a 24,000 SF overbuild to create new post-partum, ICU, and CCU floors. Also included in this work was the renovation of an existing elevator shaft and an additional two-car elevator with bridge connecting the existing hospital to this project. As part of this project, a stand-alone central utility plant was created to operate this building independently of the remaining campus. During the onset of the east building, the existing same day surgery center was upgraded which included 2 new OR’s, the renovation of 24 PACU’s, support spaces, and a full infrastructure upgrade.
Following completion of the East building, the 4 West project will begin, adding 8 new OR’s, modifying 45 PACU bays, support spaces, upgrading the existing central sterile processing and doubling the size of it while adding two new elevator shafts to support the renovated CSP servicing the OR’s.
During these major projects dozens of smaller scale renovations have been completed by onsite staff. Upon completion of this scope of work, about $180 million of work will have been completed over approximately seven years.
