Cooper University Health Care breaks ground on $3 billion hospital expansion in Camden
Cooper University Health Care broke ground on a $3 billion expansion on January 28, 2025, which includes the addition of three patient towers and infrastructure upgrades at its downtown campus.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Governor Phil Murphy, former governors Chris Christie, Jon Corzine, James McGreevey, and Tom Kean, along with Cooper Board Chairman George Norcross III, Co-CEOs Kevin O’Dowd and Dr. Anthony J. Mazzarelli, as well as TV host Kelly Ripa.
The construction project will require the demolition of existing buildings and feature an enclosed skybridge and a new central utility plant. The Joint Venture of Torcon and P. Agnes have been selected for preconstruction services for the overall program, as well as construction management services for the initial 10-story tower, which will span approximately 325,000 square feet. Torcon has been actively building at Cooper’s Camden site for the past 10 years.
This expansion represents a major milestone in Cooper University Health Care’s ongoing growth over the past 20 years. For more information on the groundbreaking and the overall project click here
