The project is the largest in the College’s history, expanding its on-campus student body and international population by providing a state-of-the-art residence hall where students can gather, grow, and learn.
The building is triangular shaped to fit on the property bounded by two roads, with a rotunda at the narrow point. The rotunda serves as student lounge areas on each floor, outfitted with floor to ceiling windows. Although the structure fills the entire lot, students have access to outside space in the fourth-floor inner courtyard. The courtyard is 1,500 sq. ft. in a truncated pie shape, laid with pavers and furnished with outside seating areas. Planters and landscaping complement the space with greenery. Student residents and commuters are encouraged to use the space for extra-curricular college activities.
The residence hall houses 240 beds in suite configurations: 27-eight bed suites, 3-four bed suites, and 6 one-bedroom suites. Each suite has a kitchen equipped with Silestone countertops, stove, microwave, and refrigerator as well as a private bathroom. Students also have access to laundry facilities located on each floor. A wide range of other amenities include a 36-seat theatre, game room, computer lab, multipurpose room, and fitness center with cardio and weight machines.
A small parking lot is located on the ground level of the building and provides 21 parking spaces.
Franklin Residence Hall has achieved LEED Silver certification.
