Ray Wallin appointed to LEED Committee

Ray Wallin, Torcon’s Chief Estimator and Director of Sustainability, has been appointed to the U.S. Green Building Council’s Materials and Resources Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for 2022.

LEED committees help develop, implement and revise the LEED rating systems, ensuring they remain rigorous and relevant. TAGs recommend technical solutions to rating system development and are structured to include expertise for specific technical issues. The LEED Committee structure includes the LEED Steering Committee (LSC), two subcommittees of the LSC, six Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) organized around credit category expertise, and one Working Group.

Ray has spent his entire 23-year career with Torcon following his graduation from Rutgers University with his civil engineering degree. In his current role, he supports Torcon with implementing sustainable strategies and policies, continuously improving operational procedures, educating colleagues and clients on sustainability, as well as a number of other critical functions and responsibilities. He is a Professional Engineer (NJ), LEED AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Living Future Accredited, Fitwel Ambassador; EcoDistrict AP; Parksmart Advisor, and TRUE Advisor. His passion for sustainability extends beyond the workplace. At home, his family has worked to divert more than double the average household rate of trash through recycling, compositing, using substitute materials, and reuse.

Congratulations to Ray on this new appointment!
