Torcon Awarded 2013 Governor's Occupational Safety & Health Awards

For the calendar year 2013, twelve of Torcon's projects were recognized at the annual New Jersey Governor's Annual Occupational Safety & Health Award Program. Torcon's project teams continue to lead the local construction industry in safety.

Torcon was accepted as a Star Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) participant in OSHA’s Mobile Workforce program in Region 2, which includes New Jersey and New York. This designation builds on Torcon’s 20 year commitment to OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Programs and our 22 VPP Star sites. The certification was achieved through an extensive evaluation by an OSHA team that included several days of on-site inspections and staff interviews, and the analyses of Torcon’s safety program and safety statistics. The New Jersey’s Governor’s Awards recognize companies and projects for achieving safety excellence based on statistical achievements for the year or over several years. Various levels of achievement are given, from below-national-average performance to zero lost time incidents over the course of the year or over multiple years.

This year, Torcon's Red Bank headquarters was given a Recognition Award this year, for achievement in the prevention of occupational injuries in 2013. Our on-going work at The Valley Hospital in Ridegewood, New Jersey, earned the Governor’s Continued Excellence Award for five or more consecutive calendar years without lost time from a work-related injury or illness.

Torcon is extremely proud of our team members and safety staff on this commendable record of safety success.  The following New Jersey projects earned awards in this year's program—
