Giving

Torcon is a company that takes great pride in its continued support of community groups and organizations striving to improve the lives of others. The holiday season is a time of celebration, shared with family and friends. It is also a natural time to remember those who are need of compassion and assistance.

For the 2014 holidays, Torcon has made donations to several worthwhile organizations, including those listed below. We encourage all our industry friends to learn more about how these people are positively impacting the world around us, and consider supporting them as well.

Best wishes from the entire Torcon family for a happy and healthy 2015.

Tanzanian Children’s Fund

Tanzanian Children’s Fund

The Tanzanian Children’s Fund is dedicated to improving the lives of marginalized children in the Karatu region of Northern Tanzania, providing a loving home and a life of opportunity for orphaned children. Today, 90 children lead happy, healthy lives at the Rift Valley Children’s Village. They are not up for adoption; the Children’s Village is  their permanent family, nurturing them to become productive citizens and future leaders of Tanzania. To achieve long term success, TCF also seeks to strengthen the communities in which these children live, through a diverse range of programs that includes schools, medical clinics, micro-financing and community health education.

The Fiver Children's Foundation is a youth development organization dedicated to children from underserved communities throughout New York City and central New York. Through year-round character-building programs, Fiver empowers children to make healthy decisions, to become engaged citizens, and to succeed in school, careers, and life. To each participant, Fiver pledges 10 years of comprehensive, developmentally appropriate programs and support. Children begin the program at age 8 and graduate at age 18, upon high school graduation.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Torcon is helping underwrite the Wishes and Dreams for Cystic Fibrosis campaign in Philadelphia. Wishes & Dreams supports CF families, caregivers, and friends to raise awareness and help fund research and medical treatments. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). The predicted median age of survival for a person with CF is in the late 30s. Over the past 60 years, the CF Foundation has been the driving force behind the pursuit of a cure.
