RENEWABLE ENERGY PROGRAM—SOLAR PV
Torcon Energy Services (TES) began commercial operation of roof-mounted solar PV systems on seven buildings located on the West Long Branch campus of Monmouth University in September 2012 after entering into a Power Purchase Agreement with the University.
The 568 kW system installed by TES is comprised of more than 2,150 260watt multicrystalline solar PV modules and has produced over 685,000 kWh of power in its first year of operation. Together with the existing 454 kW solar PV system located on campus, the University will eliminate 18,000 tons of carbon dioxide from their footprint over the life of the system. This is equivalent to planting over 425,000 trees or recycling 58,000 tons of waste instead of sending it to a landfill.
