Torcon is currently Construction Manager for a new 313,000 sq. ft. mixed-use facility being built adjacent to Temple University’s campus in North Philadelphia. The building will help alleviate the immediate need for student housing for the University, providing housing for 832 Temple students in 238 units. The 14-story facility comprises studios, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, 3 bedroom and 4 bedroom suites, each with a bathroom and kitchen. All units will be fully furnished and will include stainless steel appliances and stone counter tops.
Students will enjoy the club room on the top floor, which provides a social gathering space. It features multiple game centers, televisions, and lounge areas, as well as an uninterrupted view of the city. Amenities also include laundry facilities on each floor, a state-of-the-art fitness center located on the first floor, and an 11,000 sq. ft. section of the ground floor for shopping and dining spots. A lounge is also provided on the third floor, looking down on the hub of activity on Montgomery Avenue.
The new tower was designed by Wallace, Roberts and Todd. The striking exterior facade uses wall panels colored in deep oranges, reds, white, and gray that blend in seamlessly with Temple’s landscape of cherry and white. The building also has operable windows and curtain wall feature sections.
This project has achieved LEED Silver Certification.
